Bringing the Arts to Life in Jackson County
The Southern Hills Arts Council (SHAC) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our region by encouraging and stimulating the practice and appreciation of the arts. As a proud member of the Ohio Arts Council, SHAC is responsible for the fiscal upkeep of the Markay Cultural Arts Center’s theater and gallery while also managing our growing membership.
Through art exhibitions, live performances, and cultural programs, SHAC provides a vibrant space where creativity flourishes and the community comes together.

At SHAC, we believe in fostering creativity in young minds! Each year, we offer Children’s Theater productions and Free Summer Art Classes, giving kids hands-on opportunities to explore performing and visual arts.
-
Children’s Theater: Budding young actors take the stage in full-scale productions, gaining confidence, teamwork skills, and a love for theater.
-
Free Summer Art Classes: Kids can participate in fun, educational art workshops, exploring different mediums and techniques.
Made Possible by the David Brooks Jones Endowment for the Arts Fund
